Before applying for a copy of your confirmation record you need to know in which church and in which year it happened.
How confirmations are recorded in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney
Records of confirmations may be found in one of three forms: in the confirmation register, in the service register of the parish, or a confirmation return submitted to the Registry by the parish prior to the confirmation service.
A Confirmation Register or Return includes:
- Name of church in which confirmation will take place
- Name of church from which the candidates are presented
- Date of confirmation
- Names of candidates
- Addresses of candidates
- Ages of candidates (but NOT date of birth)
- Occasionally: Dates of baptism of candidates (but NOT place of baptism)
- Name of presenting minister
- Name of confirming bishop
- Date of form
It is only possible to supply copies of confirmation records to the person named in the record.
